When it comes down to trying to figure out who our target audience is we have to take a number of factors into account. The reason as to why I say this is because we need to understand who is actually going to engage with what we have created.
I did some research by going on IMDb to try and see what kind of an audience similar movies have attracted. For example, I looked into a film called 'Goal!'. This film is possibly one of the most similar films to what we vision our film being like. Therefore looking at the data that is provided should be helpful for us to figure out what kind of audience we are aiming to attract.
DEMOGRAPHICS
Gender- predominantly targeted towards men who have an interest in sports. However, there is clearly an interest to some women.
Age- roughly ages 18-44. But the age with the most interest is 30-44.
Nationality- United Kingdom (its a British football film).
Parental status- This is relevant because some of the older players in our film would most definitely have families in which there would then be more elements of drama to be included in the film.
Socio Economic Group:
Because of the fact that this is football film and football is the largest sport across the globe meaning that it has the greatest audience means that a football film like the one that I came up with, could draw multiple social classes attention. It is most likely that anywhere from working class to middle class possibly upper middle class would watch a film such as this one. The only reason as to why I feel as though the majority of those at the lowest level of subsistence might not is predominantly due to the fact that they might not be able to afford to attend cinemas whenever a movie they like has been released.
Psychographic Information (Personality types)
When it comes down to figuring what kind of people would watch this film we can refer to Young & Rubicam's table that they created in order to help them categories audiences based on their personalities, but first we need to acknowledge that the target audience for this film would be people who are into their sports, athletic and people with goals and aspirations.
By using Young & Rubicam's table they would most likely categorise our audience as being the Succeeder group. The reason why they would categorise them as the Succeeder. Primarily because 'their core need in life is for control', which I feel as though would suite and audience member perfectly because the football teams end goal is to try and have control above all of the other league teams. And the Succeeder seeks reward and prestige which is ultimately what all football teams seek.
